After a lengthy run in San Rafael, first at the Masonic Lodge downtown and then from the top of the hill at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall in Terra Linda, the San Rafael Contra will end after the Saturday, August 9 dance with Larry Unger & Caroline McCaskey. We’re closing the series due to a combination of factors — rent, attendance, and a need for a manager — and we’ll miss seeing you all on 2nd Saturdays: our crowd of regulars, those dancers who attended occasionally, or even once as they passed through town. Huge appreciation to all of the callers and musicians who invested their talents and energy, and also to Marty Brenneis and more recently Vince Lucchesi, who made it possible to hear the fabulous music and guidance from our callers.
