CONTRA DANCE, WALTZ WORKSHOP, POTLUCK!
Caller - our own Todd Silverstein! Rodney Miller (fiddle) and Rebecca King (grand piano)! They rock!
The free waltz workshop is from 5:00-6:00. If you're a beginner this will definitely set you on the right path to waltzing pleasure, for yourself and your partners. If you're experienced, join us! It helps to have a mix of experienced and beginner dancers - benefits the community in all kinds of ways! Plus reviewing the basics of something as subtle as waltzing is always valuable. You are guaranteed to learn!
Instructor Michael Penk, known for his smooth and always-on-the-beat waltzing, is a favorite waltz partner all up and down the west coast. His experience in learning and teaching various dance styles makes him particularly qualified to teach this workshop. His emphasis on and enjoyment of the music comes through in his dancing as pure joy. He'll be assisted by another experienced dancer to-be-named.
The workshop begins promptly at 5:00, followed by a potluck – main dish provided, bring sides & salads.
Look for sign-up sheets at dances (for our planning purposes), but no registration necessary.
The evening contra dance will follow and just might include some extra waltzes to show off your new skills!
Members $10, Non-members $12, Students, under-30's, financially challenged $7
