This month, the Switcheroo contra will be held at Monroe Hall. Switcheroo is a new, gender-free, queer-normative contradance, focusing on welcoming new dancers, emphasizing consent and dancer safety, and building an inclusive, joyful, and exuberant dance community here in the North Bay. As the name suggests, dancers are proactively encourage to dance whichever role they wish — and to switch throughout the event. This is a family-friendly dance, and it is not an exclusively queer event — allies and friends welcomed and encouraged. Dancers who are used to the flow of a usual Santa Rosa contra should note that Switcheroo begins at 7pm with an orientation to norms as well as contra moves, and we encourage all dancers to participate.
