SUMMARY:2017 California Qu'Ale
DESCRIPTION:Each year the West Coast Morris dance teams gather for an Ale – a weekend of dancing\, socializing\, and responsible consumption of malt beverages (thus the name). This year’s host is your own Apple Tree Morris\, who will be welcoming teams from Washington\, Oregon\, and the length of California – and one lone outlier from Massachusetts – on the weekend of May 19-21. We’ll be gathering at the CYO Retreat Center in Occidental (a private event)\, but essaying out on a grand public tour on Saturday the 20th\, with stops planned in Sebastopol\, Santa Rosa\, and the Russian River area. SUMMARY:California Qu'Ale Show Dances
DESCRIPTION:All Saturday morning\, two busses full of Morris Dancers carrying a dozen-odd teams will have traveled hither and yon through Sonoma County\, stopping here and there to delight and amaze the local populace. At 1:15 PM\, they’ll meet at Ives Park in Sebastopol for lunch\, following which each team will present their Show Dance. As the name would suggest\, Show Dances are usually something special the team has been working on – a new tradition\, a new dance\, a new staging of an old dance. The dances will be presented on the Ives Park Stage\, and the general public is invited to attend\, watch\, applaud lustily\, etc. \n
